Cilic had a 0-2 head-to-head record against Ljubicic going into the match, but after he broke Ljubicic to lead 5-4 in the first set, he managed to hold serve and close out the set. In the second set, Ljubicic had a few chances to go a break up, but failed to convert any of them. The punishment came as Cilic broke him twice and sealed the set winning 6-3.

Not to be nitgaeve either, but I totally agree with wondering WTF is going on with those players coming over, being part of the Olympic team, and then withdrawing with injuries. There’s a host of them – go figure Canada’s Neimeyer, who retired from his singles match with an injury, but still maintained he was fit for doubles? Ana I? Even Lindsay? I don’t understand that, why not give other players a chance to play for their nation and have ‘the Olympic experience’? Or am I just ranting here? Meh.At any rate, Rafa’s through in both his singles and doubles matches, go Tommy and Rafa!
