American Alex Bogomolov Jr. eliminated Sebian qualifier Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Bogomolov was born in Moscow but then moved to Mexico with his family and subsequently to the United States.

His father was a renowned tennis coach, having coached former world no.1 Yevgeny Kafelnikov.

Gilles Muller of Luxembourg overcame Russian qualifier Konstantin Kravchuk 7-6 (5), 6-4.

Muller will meet German’s Philipp Kohlschreiber next, who dismissed Carlos Berlocq of Argentina 7-5, 6-3.

Sixth seed Dmitry Tursunov of Russia ousted Spaniard Albert Ramos 7-6 (5), 6-4.
