Tomas Berdych upset the top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the China Open semifinal, beating him 6-4, 4-4, 6-1.

He will now play Marin Cilic of Croatia in the final. If he succeeds, it will be his first title since he was victorious in Munich in 2009.

Berdych could move closer to qualifying for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London, where the world top 8 players will compete for the trophy.
